A wonderful eco friendly house in Rhue, Wester Ross which I photographed for a feature in Build It magazine. Owners, Lucie Alexander and Steve Twitchett relocated to the North West of Scotland, near Ullapool and wanted to live in the country but not too far out of town. They found this plot back in 2007 which has panoramic views across to the summer isles and sits close to the village of Ullapool.
Their architects, Skye based Rural Design came up with a timber and zinc clad house which looks at first a little like an agricultural building. The house is built to passivhaus standards and so the stove is the only major source of heat besides the warmth accrued by solar gain. With some of the most spectacular views I have seen , this house is one of my all time favourites so far !
